Since Jan this year over 120,000 innocent Tamil civilians have escaped from the LTTE to the government controlled areas. Since Monday the 20th of April 62,000 people have fled the LTTE. And as of now around 10,000 civilians are still trapped in the no fire zone. In the process of escaping thousands have been killed and thousands more have been seriously hurt. These IDPs have suffered for as long as 2 decades and now that they have escaped we want to try and do our best to make sure that they don't starve to death. The most urgent need right now is for food, medicine,shelter and clothing. But food and nourishment is priority and it's too big a task for the government to handle alone. Thus the situation is most critical and needs to be addressed urgently. And I think it's our duty as people of Sri Lanka to help our citizens in time of need so LETS STEP FORWARD AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE! A group of our friends and colleagues from all parts of the world raised funds to build 75 houses and gift 56 fishing boats when the tsunami hit us, and for that we will be ever so grateful. Some of you have since been to SL and seen them for yourselves. I know most of you must be effected by the prevailing economic global crisis. Thus I understand that some of you might not be able to help.
